1. Who we are
Le Charpentier (lecharpentier.ca) is a bilingual marketplace connecting renovation clients with skilled carpenters in Quebec. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under Quebec's Law 25 and the GDPR.
2. Data we collect
Account data
At registration we collect: full name, email address, city, and depending on your role, a carpenter profile (specialties, experience, summary). This data is required to operate the platform.
Project data
Clients post projects containing: title, description, category, location, indicative budget, and photos. This information is publicly visible on the job board.
Visit data (anonymous analytics)
When you visit, our server receives your IP address to determine your approximate country and city. Your IP address is never stored. Only the country and city (e.g. Canada, Montreal) are saved to understand our audience. No persistent identifier is used.
Payment data
Subscriptions are managed by Stripe. We never see your card numbers. Stripe stores payment data under its own PCI-DSS policy.
Transactional email
Notifications (applications, messages, search alerts) are sent via Resend. Your email address is shared solely for this purpose.
3. How we use data
- Operate the platform and its matching features

- Understand our audience in an aggregated, anonymous way
- Meet our legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data for commercial purposes.

5. Data retention
Your account data is kept as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time. Anonymous visit data is kept for 12 months.

You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Object to processing of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time

7. Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. All communications are encrypted via HTTPS. Data access is limited to team members who need it to operate the platform.
