1. Role of the platform

Le Charpentier (lecharpentier.ca) is a marketplace that connects renovation clients with independent carpenters in Quebec. We act exclusively as a digital intermediary. We are not an employer, agent, general contractor, or party to any contract concluded between users.

2. No warranty on professionals

Le Charpentier does not verify, certify, or guarantee the skills, licenses, accreditations, insurance, or backgrounds of listed carpenters. It is the responsibility of each client to:

  • Verify that the carpenter holds a valid RBQ licence (where required for the work), available on the Régie du bâtiment du Québec website.
  • Confirm CCQ accreditations where applicable.
  • Ensure the professional carries appropriate liability insurance.
  • Validate references and past work before signing any contract.

3. No warranty on work

Le Charpentier does not guarantee the quality, duration, building-code compliance, or outcome of work performed by carpenters found on the platform. Any agreement on scope of work, timeline, and warranties is strictly between the client and the carpenter.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Le Charpentier, its officers, employees, and partners shall not be liable for:

  • Direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the platform.
  • Disputes between clients and carpenters, including payment defaults, defective work, or failure to honour commitments.
  • Inaccuracies in profiles, ratings, or reviews posted by users.
  • Service interruptions, data loss, or unauthorized access beyond our reasonable control.

5. Accuracy of information

Profiles, portfolios, reviews, and project descriptions are provided by users. Le Charpentier makes no representation as to their accuracy or completeness. Information displayed may be modified or removed without notice.

6. Third-party links and services

The platform may contain links to external resources (e.g., RBQ, CCQ websites). Le Charpentier is not responsible for the content, availability, or privacy practices of those sites.

7. Dispute resolution

In the event of a dispute between a client and a carpenter, Le Charpentier may attempt to facilitate communication between the parties but is not obligated to intervene and cannot render a binding decision. Users are encouraged to contact the Office de la protection du consommateur (OPC) or pursue civil mediation if necessary.

8. Governing law

This disclaimer is governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and applicable federal laws of Canada. Any dispute relating to the use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Quebec.
